Daniel Collins - Countertenor

  • Daniel is an established professional freelance countertenor based in London. His voice has been described as both “rich” and “lyrical”, and is suited as much to Baroque oratorio as it is to French song. Daniel is currently in demand as both a soloist and a choral singer throughout the UK and Europe, singing regularly with many of the country’s top choirs and ensembles.

Daniel has been a full member of the world renowned choir The Sixteen since 2014. The Sixteen is recognised as one of the world’s greatest ensembles. The Sixteen’s total commitment to the music it performs is its greatest distinction. Conductor and founder Harry Christophers has taken the choir to worldwide success. Daniel won the prestigious in 2018 Royal Philharmonic Society Ensemble award with The Sixteen. Daniel was one of the soloists featured in the music played on BBC Radio 3 after the event. The Sixteen were the first to sing on Facebook live stream from the Sistine Chapel 22/4/2018 Daniel recently performed as a soloist in a series of Purcell’s Welcome Songs and Odes at the Wigmore Hall, Sir James MacMillan’s Stabat Mater at the Barbican and on tour, Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri and Bach's Magnificat in D, alongside a busy schedule of the Choral Pilgrimage, tours and recordings. Most recently he was the alto soloist for The Sixteen's performances of Vivaldi's Gloria.
Daniel Collins - All Saints, Margaret Street
For many years Daniel has sung professionally at All Saints, Margaret Street. London on Sundays and Holy Days. The present-day choir maintains the exacting standards of its predecessors, and is now led by the Acting Director of Music Jeremiah Stephenson. All Saints has an important link to Rachmaninov: Vale arranged Rachmaninov's Mass with English words, which the composer came to hear twice, in 1915 and 1923, declaring himself pleased with the result. It is still sung on Palm Sunday.
