Daniel Collins began singing at the age of seven as a chorister at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford. After obtaining a first-class degree in music from Magdalen College, Oxford, he continued his studies at the Royal College of Music under Ashley Stafford. Since then, Dan has performed extensively across the world as a consort singer and soloist, and since 2014 has been a regular member of The Sixteen.
Dan is able to pass on this huge amount of experience by offering 1-to-1 vocal coaching, either in London or at his home in Milton Keynes. Whether you are looking to begin singing, or are looking to hone your skills with a professional, or prepare for a concert or audition, Daniel will bring his years of training with some of the leading figures in vocal music to bear.
Milton Keynes: £70 per hour - London: £80 per hour.
BAROQUE WEEK 2024
This year Dan was invited to be part of the tutoring team at the Residential Baroque Music Summer School.
In August 2024 Daniel tutored on the Baroque Week summer school for the first time - teaching solo vocal masterclasses, tutoring vocal ensembles, and conducting chamber choirs singing with a small orchestra, in a variety of repertoire from throughout the baroque period. Dan looks forward to returning in August 2025 for another busy, musical week in Caversham, Berkshire.
BAROQUE WEEK is for baroque wind, string and continuo players and up to ten singers, but there are also opportunities for instrumentalists to sing. Plucked continuo as well as keyboard players are welcome. String players should use gut strings and a baroque bow. Students should be a competent sight-readers and be confident playing or singing one-to-a-part. Most of the repertoire will be played at A415 although there may be some opportunities to play at A392 and A440. For singers the course offers a rare chance to sing arias, cantatas and solo motets with small groups of instruments as well as working in vocal consorts.
