HSH Dr. Donatus is a hugely generous supporter of cultural heritage and the arts in the United Kingdom. A passionate advocate for music, he brings a wealth of experience from within the classical music world.
After attending a Peregrine concert featuring Fauré's Requiem with Orchestra and Voices, Prince Donatus recognised the immense value of what Peregrine offers: a world-class musical experience for the local community, with musicians who are deeply dedicated to their craft, talented young soloists, and an enriching educational opportunity for the young choristers who performed the Pie Jesu with the orchestra. He said, 'Peregrine plays a vital role in London’s musical landscape. Not only do they uphold exceptional standards, but their strong outreach program also provides emerging artists with valuable opportunities and inspires children from all backgrounds.’
Peregrine, founded in 2021 by Daniel Collins, Director of Music at St. Mary le Strand, London, freelance conductor, singer, and organist, and member of the world-renowned vocal ensemble The Sixteen.
Peregrine consists of three branches: Peregrine Orchestra, an exciting London-based amateur orchestra who play music from the Baroque to the present day with an authentic and stylistic edge; Peregrine Voices, a chamber and liturgical choir who perform a capella throughout London, and join with the orchestra for large-scale choral works; Peregrine Chamber, a concert series aimed at supporting emerging artists and music college students by offering paid recital work. We aim to support emerging artists where we can, including leadership roles with the orchestra, work within the choir, and engaging soloists from music colleges to perform with us. HSH Dr. Donatus is also a fine recorder player, private teacher, director of recorder consorts, and the founder of Teahouse Baroque (www.teahouse-baroque.uk), a chamber music series where established musicians can form ensembles to explore Baroque repertoire.
